What is land launch?Reciprocal systems for the land you steward.
Use the power of fungi in your land designs. Create thriving grass lands, forests and moisture retaining soils. I've spent fifteen years on the production side of that idea: building commercial mushroom facilities, running them, and moving hundreds of tons of spent substrate onto farms, into soil and through water systems that had a problem it could solve.
That's what I bring to your land. A working understanding of what your land will need, what it costs, how to build a program, implement it , and what it will actually do once it is complete.
15 years
On the production side of commercial mycology, permaculture and market garden work, and general construction and design of agricultural systems.
100s of tons
Of spent substrate moved onto farms, into soil and through water systems. With organic certifications, bioremediation and waste-water treatment.
7 sites
3 Central Texas farms and land projects supplied from Fallen Oak. Westcliffe, CO, Atitlan Guatemala, Fungifi (Versailles Ohio), Maui Hawaii
35 acres
In Westcliffe, CO MycoTex is currently building a display campus complete with permaculture, mycological and regenerative installations.
What fungi can do on your landSix ways fungi can help your land.
Each one is designed around real volumes, sourcing and logistics, so it works in the field, not just on the plan.
-
Soil building
Spent mushroom substrate applied as fungal-rich organic matter to rebuild tired or degraded ground.
-
Run-off and drainage
Substrate integrated into drainage lines and slopes to redirect and slow run-off.
-
Greywater pre-filtration
Fungal filtration stages for greywater, designed alongside your existing water systems.
-
Permaculture integration
Mushroom systems and substrate woven into an existing permaculture plan, without redesigning it.
-
Substrate sourcing and logistics
How much you need, where it comes from, what it costs and how it gets to your site.
-
Inoculation and remediation
Spawn planning for larger inoculation and remediation work, backed by our R&D.
IS THIS A FITLet’s see if we’re a match
Built for
-
Regenerative farms and ranches
Building soil and closing the loop with fungal-rich substrate instead of buying inputs.
-
Permaculture and food forest projects
Weaving substrate and mushroom systems into a design that already exists.
-
Land-based retreat centres
Greywater pre-filtration, on-site mushroom operations and teaching for your community.
-
Landowners with water problems
Run-off, drainage and stormwater that need a biological answer.
Not for you if
-
You don't have land
Or access to the land in question.
-
You want a design document
Rather than a system that runs.
-
You're looking for a course
A certification, or a weekend.
-
Your timeline is short
Shorter than a growing season.
If biology is too slow for your timeline, an engineered solution is the honest answer, and I'll tell you so on the first call.
How an engagement worksFrom a site call to a system that matures over seasons.
Not every site is a fit. This process is built to find that out early, before you spend money.

Kintsugi Ranch
Farms, ranches, retreats and public water systems across Texas, Hawaii and Guatemala.
PermacultureGranja Tizkin
Central Texas
Lake Atitlán, Guatemala
RetreatIntegrated mushroom substrate into an existing permaculture plan and taught a course on site, in conjunction with Creasol Permaculture.
Taught a permaculture course integrating mushroom operations with greywater filtration, using spent substrate from Fungi Academy.
Symbiosis Texas
Texas 2026
WATERSupplied and integrated turkey tail substrate for drainage, run-off redirection and filtration.
Fallen Oak Mycology
Central Texas
SubstrateDirected every pound of spent substrate from a commercial mushroom facility to working farms and land projects, rather than to waste.
City of Austin
Austin, Texas
STORMWATERWork on municipal detention and retention pond systems and stormwater run-off. Original renderings are being rebuilt as planning templates.
Maui Mushrooms

substrateFounded and ran a production facility. Spent substrate went into small farms and gardens across Ulupalakua.
Remediation R&D$30,000 lbs
Of native oyster mushroom grain spawn, Lahaina fire remediation, 2023
Mass inoculation fails on logistics, not on biology.
After the Maui fires, I and Fallen Oak Mycology were contracted to supply 30,000 lb of native oyster mushroom grain spawn to a remediation crew. The crew was unable to execute, and the shipment never went out.
Live spawn at that volume is heavy, perishable and time-bound. That lesson drives our current R&D: shippable enzyme powders and liquid cultures formulated for specific land use cases.
So the next crew that needs 30,000 lb of biological capacity receives something that survives the journey.
BackgroundDesigned to be built by the people who have to build it.
Fifteen years in commercial mycology, including Hana Farms on Maui and two years at Cove Crest Vineyard Winery in Northern California, from 2017 to 2018.
A trades background means the systems I design come with real build logic, not just biology. I'm currently developing a 35-acre site at 9,000 ft in Westcliffe, Colorado.

-
Biological systems take a season to prove and around three to mature. If that's longer than you have, an engineered solution is the honest answer, and I'll say so on the first call.
-
Then you'll hear that early. The site call and assessment are built to find out what fungi can realistically take on, and what they can't, before you commit to a build.
-
It's a fixed-scope engagement, quoted after the free 30-minute site call once the size and needs of your land are clear.
-
Yes. MycoTex has a Colorado headquarters and active Central Texas operations, and past land work includes Hawaii and Guatemala.
-
No. Teaching can be part of an engagement, like the on-site courses at Kintsugi Ranch and Granja Tzikin, but Land Launch is about building a system that runs on your land.
-
Yes. Commercial production is covered by Farm Launch, and the two pathways can run together when a site needs both.

Not every site is a fit, and I'd rather say so early than take your money and find out in month three.
